About Susan
I
began my writing career later than most. My three sons are grown,
married and have children of their own. If your children have children
then you know what a wonderful place that is to be. I've read thousands
of books and have been wanting to write one since I was 17 (which is
getting to be longer and longer ago). My first mystery, The Red Shoelace Killer, A Minnie Minerva Mystery, is finished and looking for a home. Many of my "test readers" have been able to relate to and find humor in it. I liked writing it so much, I have another in the works. I'm hoping to write four in the series.
I live in upstate New York in a crusty old house complete with leaky plumbing, bats behind the shutters and gigantic maple trees that shed gazillions of leaves every autumn. Dear husband hauls them in an open trailer up the back hill to the compost and our Springer Spaniel, Libby, dutifully follows him on the off chance a demented squirrel might suddenly attack. She'll get it before it gets him.
I read and write every single day. My favorite books tend to be mysteries and I'm a total Janet Evanovich freak. I love Elizabeth George and Martha Grimes. If I don't have a book waiting for me at night I feel lost and deprived. I've read Gone With the Wind six times. The first time I was 16, the last time I was 50. I cried the day James Herriot died. His books gave me more pleasure than almost anything I've ever read. Mark Twain was one of the funniest humans that ever lived and Dave Barry is a close second. I loved Seabiscuit and Lord of the Rings. I've read Tolkien's trilogy and The Hobbit three times each. I could go on forever but don't want to bore you silly. If you've gotten this far - BRAVO!
